Polaroid's 21st century venture into what made them an American standard- the instant photo- has its triumphs and trappings. I've broken my review into two separate fields: "Design", "Cost" and "Verdict".

DESIGN:
Where Polaroid had originally been a trailblazer in design, the 300 is identical to the Fuji Instax, down to the film itself. A disappointment, for sure. The design of this body and the film it produces leaves something to be desired, as well. While lighter and (technically) smaller than its predecessors, the 300 still has a very chunky, boxy feel to it. More so than this, however, is the departure of its traditional square frame to a reduced "business card" size. To shoot horizontal, you have to turn the camera on its side: if you're right-handed (like myself and 80% of the world) there's a strong possibility your hand could obstruct the flash.

Although it takes photos they are small. Less than half the size of the old poloroid. The camera itself feels like it was made by fisher price toy division.
Very dissappointing.
I tried to think of a good use for this camera. If you wanted to have picture labels for your pantry or shop.
I wish I could return it.

The polaroid film works well. I am a lover of polaroid pictures so I was ecstatic when this came in the mail! My only concerns are two that have nothing to do with the sender (or amazon) and everything to do with the film itself. It sucks that in each pack of film you only have 10 pictures, that makes you really have to think about what you are going to snap a photo of. The other concern is to do with the quality of the pictures themselves. Many of the photos I have been trying to take in my room come out so dark they are almost black and aren't worth it to keep so I just throw them in the trash. So be sure you really want a picture of something because there are only 10 photos in a pack, and be sure there is lots and lots of light around you!!

Should you really "shake it like a Polaroid picture?"
Ever since the song "Hey Ya" by Andre 3000 of Outkast came out, everyone is shaking their Polaroid pictures. Shaking or waving a Polaroid picture to help the development process originated in the early days of peel-apart film. After peeling the negative, the image needed to dry before it could be handled, so waving the photo helped it to dry more quickly. When using the integral films (600, Spectra, 500, SX-70/Time-Zero, i-Zone) that are used in our most popular current camera models (Polaroid One, OneStep, JoyCam, etc.), the image develops and dries behind a clear plastic window and never touches the air, so shaking or waving has no effect. In fact, excessive shaking or waving can actually damage the image. Rapid movement during development can cause portions of the film to separate prematurely, or can cause "blobs" in the picture. The best way to ensure a perfectly developed image is to simply lay the picture on a flat surface immediately after it exits the camera.

I bought this camera at a going-out-of-business sale at a local retail store about a year ago. I thought the 'construction' nature of the camera would make it more durable, while still providing fairly good pictures. Little did I know that the pictures would be so good!
I never would have guessed that this camera would take such crisp, clear pictures. I have shot more than a half-dozen pkgs of film and every picture has turned out fine. Please understand...this is not a 35mm camera with all the bells & whistles. It is a Polaroid instant camera (w/ flash) that produces good, instant pictures. That being said, it is very rugged and durable and will tolerate adverse weather better than your 35mm will. I have taken pictures in the rain w/o problems - you only have to remember to protect the film when it exits the camera. It needs to be kept dry & warm...just like any polaroid.
If you go into this with the correct expectations, you will not be disappointed.

Yeah, Sweet camera. It was basically ready out of the box once I added the film. Everyobody thinks it's really cool. It's great to have the instant photos, so real and so tangible. Each picture is one of a kind.

This camera works great, but I noticed at night that the pictures are a little dark if the subject is more than 5-6 feet away, but for the price I think It's a pretty good deal.

Be aware that the film is expensive, it comes out to about a dollar a photo. Othewise it's Great!

There are two things i dislike about the One 600 ultra. Other than that.....I think it is a great value for the money.

First off....why have a self timer......and not include a socket on the bottom of the camera to put it on a tripod??....The Polaroid One had the tripod socket feature...and i miss it very much on this camera.

Secondly...i dislike the fact that there is no way to turn off the flash. There are times (like taking pictures of Christmas lights) that you only want ambient light included in your pictures.

I have to admit, electronics and hardware don't excite me but I'd be lying if I told you that I wasn't just a little giddy when United Parcel delivered a package containing the new Polaroid 300 camera.

Earlier this month Polaroid Corporation, with the approval of their spokesperson Lady Ga-Ga, released the pic-300 camera. It takes 10 pictures per roll on business card-sized paper (the film is similar to the old 600 and SX-70 type film.)

Speaking of old-style Polaroid film, in January of this year, Polaroid announced that they will be updating their old-fashioned Polaroid One Step camera (The pic-1000 to be released later this year). The Impossible Project also announced the introduction of a new color film that will fit all Polaroid 600 cameras. No word yet if Polaroid film partner Fuji Film will also release 600 type film.

With limited features and a fixed focus, the Polaroid 300 may not be for everyone but I can tell... Read more

In the age of digital revolution that metamorphosed photography for ever there is little reason to buy an analog product. A product with a large size and cumbersome function. rather than take hundreds of photos before you think of changing your memory card you are limited to 10 small expensive prints.
So why did I buy it. And how come did I give it five stars. Will here are the reasons;
1. I had realistic expectations for what I was getting into.
2. I love photography in all it's shapes and forms.

This is an early review (a pre-ordered camera only arrived a couple of days ago) so I've only spent a few hours using it.
Quick summary - in some ways the camera is surprisingly limited, and it's a bit bulky (and very ugly), but this is overshadowed by having a built-in photo-printer at the price of a regular digital camera. It offers the instant-printing of the old Polaroids, but with greatly increased digital flexibility, and lower operating cost.

With an overall thumbs-up in mind, some other notes:

The camera functions are quite basic and bare-bones compared to pocket cameras today, though are more advanced than a cellphone camera. There is no zoom, just "digital zoom". There are too few buttons to operate camera settings on the go without navigating through menus, so if the environment isn't suited to just point-and-click, I'm likely to miss my shot, and if the conditions are too challenging (low light and high movement), I'm likely to fail to get a... It does turn on pretty fast, so it is ready to take pictures with only a mild amount of anticipation. It is easy to set up. It is easy to use, but could be easier if it had a more intuitive buttonology (the manual provided is also somewhat poorly written), especially once in printer mode. It is a 5.0 mp camera but with only digital zoom and relatively slow reaction time. 5mp digital photography was great 8 years ago. The large LCD is great and easy to view. I haven't had any trouble with it even in sunlight. It does use SD and SDHC cards, and with 5mp PIX, you don't need a huge card to store thousands of pictures.
As a printer, you can select any of the pictures you have taken for printing (made easier with the large screen). Like the Pogo printer stand-alone, it prints 2 X 3 pictures on Zinc paper. The Pogo instant digital camera that I recently purchased is fantastic! I'm a nurse practitioner and use it to take photos for mothers of them with their newborns. Though the photos are only 2"x3", they are borderless and can be taken close up so the photo itself seems larger. The image is clear and mothers love these photos. The photo's adhesive backing is an additional convenience. I highly recommend the Pogo camera and its many features.

I definately love this camera. It's incredibly fun and gratifying to get your pictures developed a minute after you take them, and this camera in all honesty isn't meant to be professional. If you want professional quality go buy an slr or a digital. This kind of camera should be purely considered for enjoyment. Yes it is heavy but not in a way that makes it uncomfortable--it's bulk makes it nostalgic. It has very basic camera features and is one of, if not the, easiet camera i've ever used--just shove the film in and go. The camera takes decent quality pictures and tends to put a slight sepia tint on them when taken inside, but i consider that a cool trademark effect. The features of this camera include a lens that can be slid over to take closer pictures, a sliding numberless aperture setting, built in flash, and a button that lets you control the use of your flash. This is a nice camera for those quick instant photos you want of people. However the size of it is large and the photos aren't exactly TOP quality. It's nice to have for those quick shots to show right away. The actual picture aren't something you put in a scrapbook or picture book, but I wouldn't buy this camera for those reasons. These pictures are ment for the refrigerator or a bulliten board to look at on your way out or for quick viewing. Thats why I like it because the pictures are nice to look at, but they're not priceless pictures that you treasure. So in conclusion, I would highly recommend this camera for fun and quick purposes.

The picture quality is great, and it gives you the feel of the old polaroid experience. It's not quite the same, as the pictures are smaller, but it's close enough. It would be nice if you got more than 10 per pack.

Great replacement for classic Polaroid,
I actually used this for a photo guest book at my wedding. I had a table set up with some sample pictures taken by friends and a little sign telling people to please take their picture and leave it for us. We are now putting together a small scrap book with all of the pictures. I'd say there are about 60-70 photos that were taken and only 3 or 4 are bad quality and can't be used.
